  • Superstars of Dance: So Bad It's Good?

    By Miss I

Superstars of Dance: So Bad It's Good?

I was obsessed with So You Think You Can Dance last summer, so understandably, I was excited when I saw the commercial for Superstars of Dance. The premise of the show is that the best dancers of the world would compete for international glory (or something to that effect).

Was it a ripoff of the Olympics and So You Think You Can Dance? Yes. Did it matter? No.

The show was bad, like really bad. The judges were not that likeable (perhaps because there was eight of them -- one from each country). The hosts were no better, and the dances were... let's just say, different.

The following dance got the best scores. (The Shaolin Monks):

My personal favorite number was the Argentine tango:

And no fears -- Anya and Pasha were back again, this time to represent Russia.

A dance I didn't get was the group dance from Team Australia. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't they just throwing each other onto the ground wearing really uncomfortable looking knee pads?

Do you think you'll watch this show? Should the dancing show spin-offs, singing show spin-offs, reality TV spin-offs in general stop before anyone gets hurt?

OMG, Im addicted to this show! Its pretty bad, but addicting. No matter how much I disagree with the judges (I pretty much hate South Africa's judge, not a huge fan of argentina's judge. and really, Van Buuren giving out a 3 and a 4 this week was crazy! and ireland's judge giving the argentinian soloist who was barely wearing any clothing and just shaking her ass a 10 was downright ridiculous!) but, I hijack my friend's tv in his dorm (i dont have one in my dorm) and watch it every week...its great

@centerstage816@xanga - I totally agree with you about the Argentianian soloist being pretty much naked dancing on stage was ridiculous! It's a family show, right? I was waiting for someone to start throwing dollar bills on stage or a pole to come up out of the ground.

I don't necessarily think that they have the worlds best dancers, I have not been impressed. The monks are doing martial arts! They've even said over and over, martial arts and tae kwan do! It's NOT dancing!

I watch it only to see how everyone does and what everyone does. And I do find the Russian judge weird and histarical.

let me tell ya something. i'm a dancer (i'm just so proud of it :D) and i was absolutely OBSESSED w/ SYTYCD from season one (i'm still a fan of melody and nick and blake! hahaha!).

so when i heard that nigel lythgoe was producing another dance show, of course i got excited!

and then i tuned in to the disaster that is superstars of dance. how boring. just boring. and contrary to the opinion about the australian dancers, they're actually my favorite--very earthy, natural, creative, jazzy, i could go on and on. it was like a choreography baby produced by mia michaels and tyce diorio (sp?).

so...i stopped watching. too many judges, too many opinions...it's just not "organized".

PS: i feel bad for china's judge because i feel as though he wants to express more, but can't :(
