Say what you will, but Lil Wayne has the oddest voice I've ever heard.
He's not singing; he's not rapping. What is he doing?
Who else has a distinctively, er, unique voice? In the sense that it's not necessarily good?
Britney Spears.
Now I know I'll get an onslaught of criticism, but I don't get why everyone loves Lil Wayne. "Lollipop" is a little obnoxious, especially when twelve year-olds are singing it.
As for "Miss Officer," I admit it's clever, ("And after we got done / I said lady what's ya number she said 911"), but "Wee Wee Wee" has got to be the most ridiculous chorus line I've ever heard. (That's something you definitely don't want a twelve year-old singing).
Do you like Lil Wayne? How do you feel about his voice? What's the best way to describe it to a deaf person?

He's okay. I'm not a big fan.
Lollipop has clever lyrics too..."safe sex is great sex, better wear a latex, cuz you don't want that late text, that 'i think i'm late' text. so wrap it up." I love Lil Wayne, for the most part his songs are original and creative.
I like him when he's featured in other songs (Kanye's "See You in My Nightmares", Fall Out Boy's "Tiffany Blews") but in HIS songs, not so much.
Lil Wayne is interesting. I wouldn't compare him to Britney Spears though. But I agree, he isn't really rapping or singing. Just doing whatever he does. The thing about it though is that he does whatever he does on ALOT of songs. Majority of the time the songs are great songs too.
Lil Wayne is a fantastic pop icon, because he emulates everything our society idolizes- that being extravagance, bling and drugs, (all put to a good beat, of course). Britney Spears is his female counterpart, however, I think she worked a lot harder at making her career what it is, as opposed to Lil Wayne.
And to answer the question, Lil Wayne kind of sounds like Pac Man chomping through a metal garbage can.
I liked him before he started getting featured in every single song ever. (A little after he released Tha Carter II). Now I just think he's trash, and very annoying.
@morbidlywonderful@xanga - rap rule of thumb- when the white girls start falling in love with you, you're played out.
ewwww i hate lil wayneeeeee! he bugs me for some reaason....
i like britney spears though... xD
He freaks me the hell out
I wonder what his real voice sounds like ...Â
maybe but he's not as hot
I LOVE Lil Wayne and his voice. His voice is just different from others. It's great!
I don't really like him..
But then again, I'm not a huge rap fan either.
-shrugs-
Eh, I don't like Lil Wayne that much. I do like Britney Spears though..I wouldn't say they're on the same level talent-wise.
Haha ; I find it funny that under your post, the ad is "Do you like Lil Wayne?" .
But yeah, my friends and I were talking about this the other day, he is different and we admitted he's not great, but his music is really addicting :P
I agree with foreverastar, his music might not be excellent, but they ARE catchy, and before you know it, it's playing in your head during class!
They both have no talent. Lil' Wayne is a joke. His rhymes are pathetic. Get a 3 year old and see if they can't do a better job after all rap music and kids in kindergarten consist of the same context. Cat in the hat.
Britney Spears is a joke too. Bitch can't sing, can't dance. The same with J. Ho.
HAHAHA...my sentiments exactly. I thought I was the only one unimpressed by those two. One word to describe both of them, "overrated." Oh, I'd say over-exposed too. In more ways than one. They need to keep their clothes on.
i laugh when little kids sing "lollipop" out loud. i love mrs. officer, but i think the chorus is like a siren. you know "wee-o-wee-o-wee"? i think lil' wayne is alright, but i'm into more oldschool rap.
he's magniicent lyricist (check out hustler musik) but most of this shows on his mixtapes and his earlier albums. on tha carter III and future releases, I'd consider him to be the britney of pop.
I'll admit, Lil' Wayne is a guilty pleasure of mine. In no way would I compare him to Britney Spears, she's a common bubble pop star while Lil' Wayne is unique in both his style and lyrics. I really loved the last album he came out with Tha Carter III, which is the first mainstream album of his that I have listened to, I usually listen to his underground stuff. And I liked "Mrs. Officer", it was the summer anthem for me and my friends.
I like Lil Wayne but I'm selective about what I get from him. Some of his songs are pretty good, but I'm never willing to buy the whole album. I think that his unique voice is what's helping him be so famous. He's pretty dirty sometimes which I don't really like, but generally I love a lot of his songs. A fave is definately "Swagga Like Us" on T.I.'s album "Paper Trails" and "See You in my Nightmares" on Kanye's "808's Heartbreak" album. I especially like Lil Wayne when he's featured, I think those are my favorites.(:
his lyrics hardly ever have patterns...its just rhymes thrown together. songs are supposed to tell stories and not just be random ideas awkwardly put together.
lil wayne does have a weird voice. I never thought to compare him to britney spears but I can kinda see what you're getting at!
but I like them both. for reasons unknown. catchy songs? haha I'm guilty!
