Miss II love Beyonce. Who doesn't? But who is Sasha Fierce?
I know Sasha Fierce is Beyonce's saucy alter-ego. I've known this for years. Why name your album after her?
This really reminds me of Mariah Carey's album, "The Emancipation of Mimi." Who is Mimi? Does this mean Mariah has not yet been emancipated?
And of course, there's The Artist Formerly Known As Prince, now known as just a symbol.
I understand that artists are creative people, but when their alter egos, spirit animals, power logos (whatever it may be) take over, I'm left scratching my head and wondering if they need to take five.
Do you think that stars go too far when they try to rename themselves? If you were to go off the deep end, what would you name your alter ego? (I'd be Bella Bubbles).

I'd name my alter ego Penisoraus Rex, just because... it sounds way more creative than Mimi.
But whatever. Celebrities can do what they want. If they think it will make them more famous, than whatever.
I think there is nothing wrong with having a nick name. But if someone has an alter ego where they dress differently and have a different name that is just weird. Miley Cirus/Hannah Montana for example is just ridiculous! It makes me think that they either don't like themselves so they invented a new person or think that is a way to get more money or attention.
Too far? No, but I do think that if everyone knows you by a certain name for years, it's gonna stick with you. Any new/different nickname you're gonna try to give yourself is simply not going to work. I have never referred to Beyonce as Sasha Fierce, even though I know that's what she claims to want to be called now... the old name is just gonna stick with people.
My alter ego name would end up being Naked Nikki (inside joke people, chill... :P).
Yah, i'm always going to think of beyonce as beyonce, mariah carey as mariah carey, and miley cyrus as stupid.
notice how the guys don't do this?
i'd be all star emillllliiiiieeee.
Mimi makes more sense than Sasha Fierce, though.
Beyonce's whole alter-ego sounds a bit psychotic.
But I'm liking the music.
IDK what I'd be.
I think Alter Ego names are just for fun. Sometimes you just want to be someone else and that's ok.
Mine is Magenta.
@girl_lost_in_the_dark@xanga - hannah montana is the alter ego of the character miley cyrus plays on her show...miley cyrus doesnt go by hannah montana off-set and the character's fans dont know her by anything but hannah montana
I think it just goes to show how much more insecure celebrities are than we think. How many normal people have such prominent alter egos? not many that I know of... I think they need them as an escape and it just makes me appreciate the fact that I'm not famous and I like who I am.
Maybe some celebrities are so famous that they're tired of being known by their original identity. "Okay, let's start over and build up fame with another name!" Or something. I don't know.
For a while, my favorite Japanese rock band used to do B-side tracks for their singles as an alter ego band. The members switched roles and remade old songs. If you ever looked at the credits, they would basically refer to two separate bands. It was pretty funny.
Also, another Japanese star, Tomoko Kawase, goes by two different names depending on whether she's doing her electronic 80's pop or rock. Japan loves their alter egos...if I ever became famous, I'd probably have one. Or two...or more...
if i had an alter ego it would be baroness von bugleschmidt : )
