The Greatest Love Stories in Modern TV
I was thinking about TV couples. It's easier to gradually build a love story on television when you have a whole season for development. Because of this, people tend to remember TV couples better and these love stories tend to have a greater effect on us, the viewers. So here's my list of favorite TV couples. They're in alphabetical order by title of show.

Vaughn and Sydney - Alias
What I liked most about this couple was that they worked well together on the CIA missions but they were also a very normal couple during their off-time.

Matt and Scotty - Brothers & Sisters
Matt and Scotty brought out the best in each other and they formed the example for the other less-than-perfect couples on the show.

Dexter and Rita - Dexter
That a serial killer can fall in love with anyone is surprising but Rita, TV's most perfect woman, makes it easy to believe. This couple can survive anything from crazy/violent ex-husbands to British femme fatales. Here's some irony: the actor playing Dexter is dating a co-star...but it's actually the actress playing his sister! Crazy, right?

Niles and Daphne - Frasier
This pair took a frustratingly long time to get together: 7 years! But comedy of Daphne's obliviousness to the obviousness of Niles's attraction to her made it worth the wait.
Chandler and Monica,
Ross and Rachel - FriendsI grew up watching Friends and these four still are what I consider ideal couples. Marrying your best friend, like Chandler and Monica, or always coming back to the same person, like Ross and Rachel, seem like very romantic ways to find your soul-mate.

Tim and Jill - Home Improvement
Even during their worst fights, or when Tim would blow up another appliance, this couple always had it together. They were always in sync when discipling the kids and they had an active sex life all throughout the show. I think they are the best example of a "real married couple."

Marshall and Lily - How I Met Your Mother
Dubbed LAME by the fans (for Lily Aldrin Marshall Eriksen), these two are anything but. They are always on the same page, hopelessly in love, ever supportive of each other, young at heart, and romantic. They have these cute rituals and syrupy cute nicknames-Marshmallow and Lilypad-but they are grounded and totally un-sickening.

Ned the Pie-Maker and the girl he calls Chuck - Pushing Daisies
The facts were these: the Pie-Maker and Chuck have a tragic, epic love story because they can never touch. If they do, she will die. This, however, does not stop them from having one of the greatest love stories on modern television. Actors Lee Pace and Anna Friel have an electric and whimsical chemistry.

Turk and Carla - Scrubs
These two are just a hilarious pair. They try to be this serious, adult couple but just fall back in their immature ways. It's even funnier that Carla has to share her husband with JD.

Steve and Miranda - Sex and the City
What started out as a one-night-stand grew into this relationship that dealt with many issues like class struggles, a baby, infidelity. Miranda could really be herself with Steve. I mean, this couple is so cute that they make chasing each other around with their baby's poop romantic.
Who are your favorite TV couple? What do you think makes a good TV love story?

Oh! I completely forgot!
Chuck & Blair
i love love love tony&ziva from ncis and booth&brennan on bones.
and i 100% agree about marshall and lily :]Jack and Ianto from Torchwood as mentioned by someone before; continuing in the Whoniverse, from Doctor Who - The Doctor (Nine/Ten) and Rose - wow. First time he's really fallen for someone and the pain and heartbreak on his face as he let her go - twice, and the second time the most heartbreaking of all for him - having to hand her off to, and watch her accept and kiss another - gutting, I'm sure.
And, probably my favorite of all time: John Crichton and Aeryn Sun from Farscape. Their romance made my heart race, and broke it several times too. Theirs to me seems like the closest to reality, showing the warts and heartache and all. Just a beautiful, beautiful story - and the love and genuine respect and affection the actors have for each other shines through as well. A beautiful romance from an incredible series cancelled far too early in its run. You must watch it, if only for the love story, though there are many many more amazing reasons to watch it!
i lovelovelove turk&carla and the friends couples
i would've loved to seen some gossip girl and gilmore girls couples, esp luke and lorelai
seth and summer (The O.C.) !!!
Jack and Kate (Lost)

George & Angie Lopez.
@XxWiltedRosexX@xanga - Thank you! They're the epitome in my opinion!
I love Turk and Carla...I was going to suggest Turk and JD if you didn't even have any Scrubs XD
I like the couples on Friends...one of my all time fave tv couples is Jim and Pam from The Office. They don't take life too seriously and always respect one another. =)
I like Popeye and Olive Oyl.
I feel obligated to add House and Cuddy to that list...they're not in an actual relationship, but you would be crazy not to believe that something like love is there, and their interactions have so much chemistry and tension that it's extraordinary!
Gotta agree with Turk and Carla!
Pam and Jim from the Office are definitely my favorite television couple - besides Ned and Chuck :D
Fry and Leela - Futurama
Even though they aren't dating or married, i thne of the greatest love stories of our time.
I think Dr. Cox and jordan from Scrubs need a sub section as well. Even though they constantly bicker, time has shown they are madly in love/hate with each other.
all of the "Friends" couples always got me going....

I love eric and donna from that 70s show.
