Fame Rule #1: You Beat Your Girl, Your Career Withers
When I ventured online to check out the Grammy results last night, I was shocked to discover that certain unfortunate events had transpired earlier that evening.
Apparently, Chris Brown (who I had mistaken for a nice guy) thought that something was missing from his life aside from an abundance of wealth, crazy fame, top album ratings and hot dance moves. So what did he do? He made some horrible decision that led to his arrest for assaulting an unidentified female companion this past weekend. He was up for Grammy awards but he didn't show up due to the arrest. His girlfriend Rihanna didn't show up either even though she was nominated for awards too. All these events logically have led people to assume that Chris Brown attacked his long-term girlfriend Rihanna, who is said to have suffered visible physical injuries. Chris Brown fled the scene but later turned himself in. All in all, I pretty much think he can "Say Goodbye" to his career (music, endorsements, legions of fans, etc).
Granted, I wasn't there and don't know the whole story. I am being a bit harsh but aside from my utter disgust that Chris Brown actually had the nerve to slap around the lovely Rihanna, history has proven time and time again that when you're charged with felony battery, you're out, homie.
Case in point:
1. Ike Turner (Tina was the real talent in the relationship anyway)
2. Bobbi Brown
3. Jose Canseco (The Surreal Life was his claim to fame)
4. James Harrison
5. O.J. Simpson (no comment)
6. Dwayne Carswell
7. Charlie Sheen (well, his career has not really expired (aka Two and a Half Men) but he was a super movie star back in the day)
8. Bill Murray (okay, he too is pretty famous but that was before people found out he physically abused his wife, Jennifer! now he's just seen as a mean, old loon!)
9. Jamal "Gravy" Woolard - ("Notorious" for more than just his acting chops. ::cough::wifebeater::cough)
10. Vanilla Ice (I mean, he didn't have much fame to bank on, but now he's seen more as a rogue, dirty man instead of a one hit wonder)
If you think of any additional examples, please do share.
Should Chris Brown be punished for what he did? Do you believe that once people discover a male celebrity physically abuses his wife/fiance/girlfriend, people no longer want to support him in his art? If so, why do you think this is? Can you ever support a wife/girlfriend beater?

Dude should get his dick ripped off. No one touches Rihanna.
Errm...I don't really care about Rihanna and I'm tired of hearing about this. Maybe I'm a little biased to Chris Brown cause I kinda had/have (not sure anymore) a celeb crush on him lol.
He's young. Now he can go to college if no one supports his music career :D
I never liked Chris Brown in the first place. (I can't help it....He hit her with an Umbrella, ella, ella, ay, ay, ay.......sorry.) Seriously, he is such an ass for that though.
I like chris brown but i hate what he did to Rihanna. He should apologise to her publicly.
I'm tired of hearing about this. It kind of reminds me of Michael Phelps. Although these 2 things are nothing alike. >_> Haha, anyway... Yeah, of course what he did was wrong. It's just getting so much attention because he's "Chris Brown." I'm pretty sure there's other men who beat up their wife/whatever.. but we never hear about them. Eh. I can never support a woman beater. o_O
today at track practice i was told that rihanna gave chris an std she got from jay z. hahah, that was so stupid.
although it made me want to know what really happened
Okay, so I'm going to be real about this, since no one else will. I don't like either of them but, their fame? It's got nothing to do with it, you know? It is what it is and famous or not he hit her. Never right, never okay, never forgivable by a simple apology; I don't care who the Hell you are and you know what? Chris brown has been SO DAMN COCKY his whole entire life, I knew he wasn't a nice guy. No one from his damn high schools likes him because he's always been a cocky asshole and Rhianna is a bitch but, that doesn't mean she deserves to get hit. End of story, cue curtains, everyone can move on.
I really like Chris Brown's music & thought he seemed decent. But after hearing about the Rihanna incident, I am a little disappointed. Just my personal opinion. His music is still great but I don't think that what he did to Rihanna was excusable. I think an apology would be good.
He should definitely be punished for what he did. It was completely wrong. No man should ever hit a woman.
I wish everyone would stop talking about this and passing judgement because no one really knows what happened but oh well.
He should be punished, but I don't think at the expense of his career.
I also think OJ was a terrible example because he became more famous after he killed his ex-wife..... so in a backwards way, but he's definitely more famous but not for something he wanted to be famous for, especially to a generation who may not have ever heard of him until his highly publicized and memorable trial. In 1994 I was 6 years old... I would have never known who he was if that hadn't happened.
agreed, where I live they literally stopped playing his songs, and probably doublemint will finally quit replaying that stupid commercial of him.
This incident turned into a hot topic on Facebook and at my school. A lot of people turned on Chris Brown, calling him an idiot and saying his career was over while others defended him, saying that Rihanna must've did something to start the altercation, spreading the rumor that she gave him herpes and that is what made him hit her.
My take on all this? To those who are defending his actions, PLEASE! You don't know the man personally, you only know him through his music, which doesn't say much about a person's true nature. To those who say we can't pass judgment because we don't know what really happened? PLEASE AGAIN! He was arrested for God sakes! Doesn't that speak volumes about his involvement in a domestic dispute? And the fact that prosecutors are continuing to seek evidence against him speaks a higher volume about his involvement in this situation. And one thing about this whole situation is I'm not taking sides at all, I'm listening to what I'm hearing on the news about this. Domestic violence is wrong regardless of what transpired personally between the two, that is their business after all. But when you commit an illegal act of violence against another woman and put her in the hospital, you have crossed the line!
I'm personally glad that radio stations have stopped playing his music and that he's being dropped by his sponsors. As my own act of protest, I have deleted all the Chris Brown songs from my iPOD. To condone Chris Brown's actions is to support domestic violence, which I definitely do not!
please send chris brown to hell
