Teen Stars Who Might Make It
There seems to be a lot of Disney-hating going on in the pop culture world. It's become trendy to call Vanessa Hudgens a slut or to accuse Disney of denying Zac Efron his homo-ness. And while I sometimes do join in on hating, I'm not going to discredit the few teen stars (Disney or otherwise) who are actually talented and might make something of themselves in the future. In my opinion, these teen stars are here to stay:
Demi LovatoI first encountered this neo-rocker chick while seeing her "La La Land" video while watching Wizards of Waverly Place (the only Disney show I watch). After becoming obsessed with that song, I downloaded the other 10 songs from her debut album Don't Forget. And it's fantastic! She doesn't try to be "dark" or "deep." She is just rocking out to some awesome teen pop music. The best thing is that she co-wrote most of the songs and the jewel of the album is the song she wrote all by herself, "Trainwreck." I think Ms. Lovato has a chance of leaving her mark on the music scene. And I think she's gorgeous.
Ashley TisdaleIn the HSM series, Ashley plays the ambitious Sharpay and she just wins points for being the only not-onbnoxiously cheerful-girl. Sharpay is a go-getter and I can appreciate that. Ashley herself has a reak knack for comedy with a voice to match. I definitely hope that she gets an even bigger break than the HSM franchise.
Lucas Grabeel Of the males in HSM, Lucas Grabeel was definitely the most talented. He was a major triple threat: stellar dancer, great singer, good actor. And he was in Milk for which he gets 10 extra points. And you know he had the greatest fashion in HSM and by that I mean he took a lot of chances--and pulled them off.
Dakota Fanning She used to be one of the best child actors and now she is one promising teenaged actress. She rocked the house in The Secret Life of Bees with a sensitive, mature and nuanced performance. And she was in that weird sci-fi thriller Push but I can appreciate the desire to try something new and break out of the childish image she has. And she was absolutely fabulous in Coraline.
Who are some teen stars with actual talent?

I agree. I also think Selena Gomez deserves to stay, as well. The past 5 or 6 years were kind of disappointing, Disney shows-wise. I almost gave up on watching another genuinely entertaining Disney show until I watched Wizards of Waverly Place. Cheers =].
Dakota for sure...i loved her in push
Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez <3
Dakota Fanning & Ashley Tisdale!
yeah maybe selena gomez too. :)
Ashley Tisdale annoys me. Dunno why, honestly.
Yeah, there are a lot of Disney haters out there nowadays... I wonder if that's because everyone who grew up with Disney Channel is now "too old" to either find it amusing, or to admit that they still enjoy it?
Myself, I didn't watch Disney Channel until college simply because before then I didn't have the opportunity to watch cable channels (and yes, I survived). Dakota Fanning certainly has a good portfolio of works already, and if she keeps making the right decisions she'll probably go far. As for someone who's already broken out of the Disney mold (although he's still got some haters out there): Shia LeBouf. Boy's got some talent! And he's been making some really good movie role choices lately. I don't care for HSM mostly because it's so very fake. The only person who had the gumption to actually SING, on camera, and without help was Zac Efron in the first one, and then it was only a few measures. Well, sorry, but when I watch a musical, I like to know that the people are talented enough to actually sing.
I agree with Ashley Tisdale and Dakota Fanning. In this generation it's all about the look. You don't even need to have talent these days, if you're really attractive and can somewhat do what you do, then you're in.
Other people I'd add to the list are Raven Simone and Selena Gomez is not so bad either. She can actually act.
OH YES SHIA LEBOUF!
Ughhh, how could I forget!
i cant believe some of these comments;
demi levato is an amazing singer!
maybe you dont agree with her songs
she has GREAT vocals!
not so much ashley tisdale
lucas is more of a broadway singer ithink
and of course dakota fanning is a great actress
HSM is just a fad that will fade with time
but dakota fanning wont :D
OH YEAH! FOR SURE Dakota Fanning is a great actress.
I like Ashley Tisdale as well.
Demi Lovato is pretty and she has a nice singing voice but I don't really like her.
Totally agree with Demi and Lucas. I was afraid you were going to put Miley Cyrus on this list. Thank you for not doing that
I'll agree with Dakota and Lucas. I enjoyed him in Milk with the few lines that he had.
