Do you often buy the DVDs of your favorite TV shows/movies?

Sure. Gundam Wing, 24 all the way to the expanded versions of Lord of the Rings. Owning DVDs is a way of saying "this is who I am".

I only buy Disney DVDs others I just rent. :P Unless it is animation or something really special... like Titanic! :D XD

Yes I do. I have been told that they can be seen online, or you can rent. But, there are shows (like Ally McBeal) that you can't find anymore. sigh. So, If I really like the show or the movie, I buy it. Then, I can always see it if I am in the mood.

Not often. I would love to get some more seasons of my favorite shows though. The more Sci-Fi the better .

Loads. My dvd collection is rapidly growing. I own all the Friends, Lost (so far), Supernatural (so far) and more on dvd.
I can never have enough dvds. Am also trying to get all the Disney Classics on dvd.

Heathers, Beetlejuice, Dumb and Dumber, The Exorcist, Fahenheit 9/11, hmmmm. Those are my favs but I know I'm missing some.

I definitely do/have in the past. I have:
C.S.I. (Seasons 1-8)
C.S.I. New York (Season 1)
Everybody Loves Raymond (Seasons 4-7)
Criminal Minds (Season 1)
Reba (Seasons 1 & 2)
Oprah 20th Anniversary
Without a Trace (Season 2)
and tons of movies including (but not limited to):
Lord of the Rings Extended Editions
Harry Potter 1-5
and so many more

Shows I have on DVD: Robin Hood, Big Bang Theory, Northern Exposure, West WIng, Friends, Due South, Boston Legal, The Unit, Firefly, Stargate SG1, Stargate Atlantis, Farscape, Xena, The Tribe, Press Gang, Kath and Kim, Life on Mars, Roseanne, Frasier, Will and Grace, Ugly Betty.

I'll not go into the movies I own, I'm slightly obsessive about buying the things, but they do have to put them out so cheaply these days and I just can't resist on occasion. It used to be the same with movies on VHS, it just gravitated to the new format when it arrived. Now I have a nicely growing collection of about 400+ movies all kept in organised catergories of : Action, Drama, Comedy, 80's, Classics, Musicals, Animations, Documentary. And being obsessive about my collection, yes they are all in alphabetical order.
