Kelly's new album, All I Ever Wanted, is like Prozac compared to My December, her last record. Where MD was mopey and jaded, this record is bouncy, fun and lively.
That being said, though, I vastly prefer her music when she doesn't write it herself like she did on My December. Case in point, I Do Not Hook Up, which was written by Katy Perry and a writing team that included songwriter/American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi. Here's Katy's version, meant to be released on an album that never came out:
MY EARS!
Kel also rocked songs like Miss Independent (written by Christina Aguilera and another co-author) back in her early days and Since U Been Gone by hitmasters Max Martin and Dr. Luke.
I love her voice, but I think I prefer it when the words she sings are written by other people.
hmmm she's not too bad when she sings her own songs, either.
i like kelly clarksons breakaway.
Since U Been Gone is a classic and Miss Independent will always have a place on my iPod.
So All I Ever Wanted are all songs written by other people? I'm also kind of confused about what Katy Perry's song has to do with this, haha.
Anyway, I love Kelly Clarkson, so I guess I really don't notice whether or not she's the writer of a song.
it does seem like the songs she doesn't write herself are more popular... lol
I think it's a shame that someone so talented can't write her own songs, but that's a flaw I'm able to forgive as long as the person singing actually has a voice...and Kelly Clarkson can definitely sing, so as Randy likes to say, she can sing the phone book and make it sound like art...but I loved My December because it revealed a vulnerability that's not all that common in the pop genre, and you just can't pay someone to write about your own personal experiences and expect it to sound genuine, you just can't.
It always seems like Kelly Clarkson is just yelling at me in her songs.
Aren't the songs she writes pretty much depressing? I haven't really looked into that. I don't like depressing songs, though.
My IT teacher (who had no idea who she was), read out the lyrics of Breakaway to our class and made little comments about how strange it was, when to everyone else, it just sounded normal. It was hilarious.
i actually dont care for her at all..
All of her songs sound the same.
Since U Been Gone, not a big fan of her, but her songs are okay. I guess.
The only song of hers I recognize is My Life Would Suck W/out You and it's pretty catchy...
i really like since you been gone, breakaway and my life would suck without youu.
I think it can be about 50/50 on her own and someone else's, I love Behind These Hazel Eyes.
Behind These Hazel Eyes, Since U Been Gone- those are my favourite.
I love Kelly Clarkson- she's talented and isn't like most famous people are- superficial.
But anyway, I also like that song she did for that movie, Love Actually. Think it's called The Trouble With Love? hmmm... good song.
Katy Perry's version of that song is WAY better than Kelly's... I have no idea what you're talking about.
I like both of their songs/voices.
My Favorite Song by Kelly is "The Trouble with Love is."
Behind These Hazel Eyes has to be my favourite and I love the song All I Ever Wanted off the new album.
Really? I think her new album is terrible compared to My December. My December clearly has more depth... I don't know, maybe I just don't like "bubbly" songs. Â This album just sounds way too... manufactured for me.
I actually bought her last album, but I didn't even bother downloading a single song from her latest one.Just my personal opinion, though. Â However, I agree with the opinion shared amongst all of us: KELLY CAN SING! :D
