QOTD: Do You Still Watch Music Videos?
Video killed the radio star, but the joint forces of YouTube and "Rock of Love Bus" have slowly offed the music video. MTV and VH1, channels I grew up watching obsessively, are now wastelands for vapid reality shows full of C-list celebs and lots of tattooed, half-dressed women. I say now: bring back the videos, MTV!
I want Matt Pinfield telling me music trivia, I want Kurt Loder explaining the faux news, and I want pre-Tara Reid Carson Daly with his black fingernail polish and non-riotous TRL. Surely you can work that in around "Single Ladies"?
Do you still watch music videos? If so, do you watch them on YouTube or on cable? Would you watch more MTV if they brought them back?

I really miss music videos. The only time I ever see them now is when MTV and VH1 play top 40 stuff after like 1a.m. I used to be able to see some of everything, all day back when I was younger...
I watch them sometimes.
I go on youtube for them.
Yeah, on YouTube.
I watch them on youtube for the most part.
I really enjoy the MTVhitlist channel with different celebrities hit lists.
I watch everything on The Tube now. MTV sucks bigtime.
I agree. Â Youtube. Mtv sucks, I hate that I have to pay for the shit they produce.
i want it on youtube. sometimes
Yes I still watch them! I watch them on Gospel Music Channel sometimes. Other times I use YouTube. And if I want to watch some by Audio Adrenaline, Switchfoot or Skillet, I just put in one of my DVDs.
I watch them once in a while on Youtube. MTV should've kept TRL. I don't even watch MTV anymore.
yes I still watch music videos on MTV and VH1in the mornings, MTV
am and on weekends MTV and VH1 top 20 countdown. I don't really watch
videos on youtube only if i want to listen to it but i don't watch it.
Yes i watch them, i love VH1 for the music videos. MTV and Channel V rock as well.
Fuse, YouTube...there was a show on Fuse, not so long ago, the kids and I used to watch together. The kids looked at me and said, "Hey, Mom - check this out!", and played one of the shows.
I stopped, dead in my tracks, and replied, "Wow! This reminds me of when Mtv was music television!"
I got a funny look, until I explained it in more detail. My Mom came over with a converted DVD from VHS that had some classic music videos, and the kids were surprised and impressed.
Music videos were a way to encapsulate a short film to illustrate background on a given tune, in many cases - not just a cam parked across from the band.
Rare it is to see that kind of effort being made into an artistic music video...
VH1 has an online forum with some of the classic vids, and, although the material is dated, you might be surprised at just how much would go into a vid.
I just watched some the other day for a survey I was taking, but other than that, I haven't seen any of the new music that's out now. I go to You Tube every now and then to see the old hair band videos I used to watch on Headbangers Ball back in the day.
yeah i do. it helps me understand the song better(:
MTV doesn't even really pertain to music anymore. It's all about Speidi and Sweet Sixteens now. :(
I love watching the music videos on VH1 on weekday mornings, though. But yeah, I usually go on YouTube.
i dont even have mtv anymore since its all filled with junk and they dont even play music videos.. but i do watch them on youtube.. thank god for it
