Convince A Skeptic to Read Twilight!
Miss J Prior to now, I have avoided the Twilight books/movies/insanity at all costs.
But that doesn't mean I'm not open-minded. So, I have decided that I will bravely crack open one of those wildly popular vampire novels....if you guys can convince me it'd be worth it.
So, floor's open. Why should I read Twilight?

True Blood FTW!
You should read it so you can understand that Stephanie Meyer is a shitty author and caters to young people who have absolutely abhorrent taste in literature.
Because he glitterssss, yayyyy!!
o.OYou shouldn't read it. It's terrible.
@methodElevated@xanga - Haha, well said :P
Eh, I felt the same way, and I read the first one. Wasn't bad.
I agree with the second comment.
I am actually a huge fan of the Twilight series, despite what people may say. In my opinion, it is a great series, maybe not the most well written, but I fell in love with it. You should try it out just for yourself though, who cares about what other people think. Read it, if you like it, then great, if you don't then you don't. (:
Because when you cut past the semi shitty writing you have an amusing plot.
Pick up The Host. It's also by Meyer but written for an adult audience. It's way better. ♥
Borrow it from a friend. I'm barely 20 pages in, and I'm finding it more difficult to get through than Finnegan's Wake. I thought I should read it to have better understanding of the enemy, the same reason I watch Fox News. But it's hard because I'm critiquing each sentence for word choice, superfluous use of words, and awkward construction.
Don't read them. Poor story line and poor writing. Made my head hurt. If I didn't have to read about Bella and Edward, I would have been much happier. The other characters were far more interesting than Bella and Edward. They just made me gag every every five minutes.
The Host is surprisingly sooo much better. I really liked that one. Read that one instead.
But that's just my opinion. Like it matters against the TwiHards who are convinced it is the greatest series ever written.
I liked Twilight more before the movie came out... now people are obsessed with it. It's creepy how much people like Edward.
Just read it while forgetting about the movie.
all the news is about the movie, but i still think the book is way better. the book is always better than the movie. so why not give it a try? :]
the writing may not be the best, but the story line is absolutely amazing!!! that is, if you enjoy love stories. i'm a hugeeee fan!
screw the glitter emos
LET THE RIGHT ONE IN ALL THE WAY!
Once you read it, you no longer have to wonder if it's stupid....you'll know now for yourself that it is completely stupid.
don't read it!!!! it sucks ass.
@kachino@xanga - WORD.
You should read it to develop your own opinions and tell us if you agree or disagree with the majority.
Personally, I like it. I don't see how it's bad writing lol but I do see how it's creepy and stalkerish in a way. After the movie came out, it ruined the book. All I see when I envision the scenes in my head is an ugly Robert Pattinson and an odd Kristen Stewart. Don't watch the movie.
I'm writing a research paper on Twilight. By the end of it, I will be sick of the books haaha
i think you should read it i loved it fell in love with the characters and everything i read those 4 books so fast. <3<3
If you want a book to remind you of high school's "i just met you, but ZOMG, I LOVE YOU, DON'T EVER LEAVE ME!!!!!!" then you'll enjoy that/those books. i read them, and yeah, the story is kinda cute, when you get past the fact it, ya know, makes no freaking sense (aka: vampires are NOT supposed to sparkle, and the whole 'vegetarian' thing just pissed me off being an avid vampire fan). But the love story part was cute, even if it is a little high school-ish (which is appropriate since they're in high school anyways). But also, it's horribly written, to be completely honest. It was a decent idea, but very badly written.
And i say all this as a married woman out of high school who read all four books in a week and saw the movie. It's one of those things that you'll enjoy if you can ignore the badly written aspect and the fact that the relationship itself is a rather immature one. i like it, but it's not really that sensational of a series.
You should read it because it is a sweet story. I admit that she isn't the best author.... she probably has an 11th grade level of story writing, but the story itself is sweet and romantic. It really catches your attention and holds it the entire time.
I finally read and watched it just so I wouldn't be ignorant of the current contempary cultural madness. I wasn't overly impressed but it seems like the usual teen romance novel type stuff. It's really not that bad unless you're specifically looking for a more serious work of fiction. If you read it with the realization of who the intended audience is then you will be less dissapointed.
I just read it. It's actually very addictive and good but you have to realize that it is very different than regular novels. The main difference is that it is written in first person so you get one plot line throughout the entire book, as opposed to say JK Rowling's 3rd person with 900 plots going on at once.
It is actually a good read, and you can knock all four books out in a week or two. Don't expect all men to have as good of hearts as they seem to in this book, though. The first book is the absolute best, with the forming romance. The second is the hardest to get through :'( and the last two are great.
