i've seen loads of horrors...but most tend to make me laugh (or cringe...) - the only one that's ever scared me is "IT" because it scared me as a kid and i guess...i never grew out of the fear >.<
I have yet to see a truly scary movie.
Although, that doesn't stop me from admitting I was terrified of Chucky as a child.
The freddie kruger series scared me when I was a kid and my older sister by 5 years would always laugh at me as she would watch it whenever it came on TV. I'm not scared by it anymore, though. I've come to realise they're really cheesy but when you're like 5 and don't know these things don't really happen or what's on TV was made on a hollywood set it's scary!
@Hobo1964@xanga - I saw that! Wasn't too terribly impressed :/
Thrillers based on true stories frighten me. I can do any number of make believe aliens, ghosts, vampires or zombies. The real live human monsters scare me.........
The last house on the left. The original, not the remake. I truly thing the horror genre died out in the 2000s. Forgive me but we see like what 6 a year now? Back in its zenith, you had 2 a year come out or something. They used to be low key, now it's mainstream, too commercial & unoriginal. Now they're remaking old ones like Nightmare on Elm Street. That dude used to scare the shit out of me. I remember once when I was a kid, I had a dream he came out the bathroom (it was inside the master bedroom I shared with mom) & started jumping around the room waving his claws. ::shudder::
@echois23@xanga - Good answer! Some of these nuts that walk among us in the street are worse than any movie monster.
Most movies I've seen don't really "scare" me.. They just freak me out a little.
The Grudge, Signs, Mirrors..
Traditional horror movies rarely scare me. Modern "horror" movies (which are actually just gore and torture porn) just disgust me.
A truly scary movie, in my opinion, is A Beautiful Mind because I can relate all too well.
I think I was 11 when I saw Mr Sardonicus...it scared the living hell out of me then...and still gives me chills thinking about it. As an adult, both The Exorcist and Alien fill the bill.
the hills have eyes.
the one that has kept my imagination working: hostel series.
Stephen King's IT and a Japanese film called Audition.
There is one scene from the Shining where the woman is running around the hotel, and she runs into a room where she spots a man in a dog suit and his lover on a bed and the two of them just look up at her. It's hard to explain, but scenes where something is minding its own business, and then suddenly turns to look at you, freak me out.
I have seen no movies that really scared me.
Scream' Cucky' Friday the 13th
The Exorcist. I've still never finished the whole thing lol!
Wrong Turn freaked me out in the movie theater. really..lol everytime i look at a big pile of woods now i wonder if deformed rednecks are gonna pop out of nowhere and shoot me with a cross bow or something crazy.
@BoxesOfRoxes@xanga - that stuff freaks me out too.
i first saw 'the exorcist' when i was 16 (i'm 18 now), and it still gives me nightmares. it's just mentally disturbing, a little girl telling jesus to...well...if you've seen it, you know. plus the subliminal messages scare me.
rob zombie's halloween
The Hills and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Almost anything bloody..and full of chasing/hiding scenes scare the hell out of me. I'm too used to the Asian horror films that deal with grudges and long black hair.
But I'm still scared of movies dealing with exorcism. Especially the one called the Exorcism of Emily Rose. I'm Catholic, so it scares the shit out of me.
It's scarier if you get hallucinations though! I swear.
The Ring. That girl still freaks me out!
Lyrn@xanga I totally agree with you! The Ring is the only movie that's ever had me freaked out for a long period of time. I still get uneasy when I see that black/white static picture on my tv.
i'm a huge fan of horror movies.so not many really "scare" me except dead silence that freaked me out pretty bad and the shinning i saw that when i was 9 and i still haven't finished it
