Friday Challenge: Vanessa Carlton vs. Regina Spektor
In this corner, we have 2002 chart topper Vanessa Carlton, best known for her hit "A Thousand Miles".
(she later released "Ordinary Day" and "Pretty Baby," sang with Counting Crows in a remake of "Big Yellow Taxi" and released "White Houses" in August of 2004)
And in this corner, Moscow-born Regina Spektor, who sounds like Tori Amos and Bjork's lovechild. She's best known for her song "Fidelity" (you know, "and it breaks my he-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-art"), sang a duet with Ben Folds for his latest album and has a new album coming out this summer.

Regina. Vanessa only managed to write the most annoying song ever, which shouldn't have been famous at all, as it it quite similar to that song by the Proclaimers called "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)." yeah.

Regina Spektor all the way!! :) Her music is beautiful, especially Apres Moi. The Russian poem in it is absolutely gorgeous! and her new song Laughing With, has so much meaning to it. It's amazing. :D

I like Vanessa's style, but Regina is always a bit more out and about. Plus, she did a duet with Julian Casablancas from the Strokes FTW.
Regina... she's got some really kickass songs. Fidelity is just the very tip of the iceberg.

Vanessa's great as well, but Regina is so different.
she's one of a kind.
so many people dont understand Regina cause they think her lyrics dont make sense or they dont understand the little noises she makes and why she repeats herself.
i think she's outstanding.
