Top of The Charts Ten Years Ago
Ten years ago today, the #1 song in the country was "Livin' La Vida Loca" by Ricky Martin, ousting TLC's "No Scrubs" from the top spot.
Has music gotten better or worse than it was ten years ago?

It depends. We have better things and a lot worse !
I don't see popular music becoming good anytime soon.
Mainstream music has always sucked, take disco in the seventies or glam and new wave in the eighties for example. Two decades of sorry ass music, The nineties has some decent stuff such as alternative, grunge, gothic rock, nu-metal, industrial rock. Then we went back to an era of suckage where all we have is Indie rock, Hip-Hop, Pop rock (not the good old stuff), Pop Punk (pretty much bubblegum stuff now) and Emo (the worst denominator in rock history). Hopefully we got better stuff coming next decade cause it is coming close for the time of this decade to just say bye! Overall I say stick to underground music, which is better honestly!
Hmm... It depends on what genre. I only listen to Christian music so that's what I judging. I'd say that SOME rock has gotten better in the past 10 years, but praise & worship and pop have really gone downhill. Praise & worship all sounds the same now days and pop is actually kinda rare now.
As for rock, there are some AMAZING, I mean seriously GREAT bands out there, but most of it is this punk rock that all sounds the same.
There are other genres in Christian music that are there now that weren't a decade ago such as metal and rap & hip-hop.
I honestly don't know whether I think it's gotten better or worse.
I'm gonna say it's worse than it was... and has been.
Wow. I that brings back memories! Can't believe it's been 10 years since I graduated high school. I'd have to say music has gotten worse, it all sounds the same these days.
It's gotten significantly worse with songs like "Cookies and Apple Juice"...
Pop songs make me cringe. Especially 90s pop. Yuck.
Omg. I loved Ricky Martin! I was like six or seven & fell in love with him haha
Worse.
i hadn't been listening to much english songs but i still very much love my 90s pop songs..
gotten worse
its gotten worse!
In my opinion it has got a lot lot worse over the years since 2000, some songs are okay in my opinion but people music choices changes over time.
Worse. At least in 1999 only the teeny bopper pop stars and hip hop stars were all trying to sound alike. Nowadays, every single 'alternative' band has turned into a sell-out or wannabe. Nickel-Hinder-Abel, anyone? And don't even get me started on Green Day...
Then again, the end of the 90's/beginning of the 2000's was a time for that lovable little mutation known as rap-rock, too. How Limp Bizkit ever became big, I will NEVER understand.
PS: Livin La Vida Loca was my shit back then! LOL.
Wow I remember those songs. I haven't heard them since!
I think it's gotten worse. I was never a fan of rap music to begin with and now I despise it even more. The lyrics are God awful. I stopped listening to the radio a LONG time ago and stick to my CDs.
i loved 90's music all throught elementary school, but i also like alot of the new music too. i think its a matter of what kind of music you like. if you like rap, rock, country, pop, r&b, scremo, or alternative, youd probably like todays music better. but if you like boy bands, bubble gum pop, and more boy band-y rock bands, then youd preffer the 90's
I don't think music has gotten better or worse just changed. One of the main changes is the content. This has gotten much more crude, but some could argue this makes it better because it is more "raw" and show the human emotion better. I think there are pros and cons to all generations of music.
